The Arts
We have a passion for the arts at Bradford Grammar Junior School and we provide a superb platform for fostering creativity.
Junior School
Drama
Drama gives children the opportunity to explore their identity, talents and to grow in confidence.
From an early age, we encourage pupils to enjoy all aspects of the performing arts; acting, singing, dancing, or writing.
Whether our children are performing in our prestigious Hockney Theatre, the Clock House Hall or the magnificent Price Hall, a love of all-things drama can help pupils to develop their leadership skills, learn how to be a team player, how to express themselves and how to present their ideas with confidence.
Clock House produces its own show every year with past productions including ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, ‘High School Musical’, ‘Shakespeare Rocks’ and ‘Honk’.
Music
Every pupil has the opportunity to immerse themselves in musical life, which is thriving at BGS.
Our year is packed with performances, musical assemblies, recitals, and our whole school concerts in the spring and at Christmas. Children can choose to join ensemble groups, the orchestra, samba group and/or our rock band.
Music lessons are built into the curriculum led by specialist peripatetic teachers and talented Clock House pupils can perform alongside our Senior School pupils as they develop their musical abilities.
We’re lucky to host many visiting musicians, such as Julian Lloyd Webber, who run workshops with pupils of all abilities.

Art
Art is a huge part of Junior School life.
It begins in Reception with messy play then, from Year 2 onwards, lessons are held in the specialist art room at the Senior School. Children learn about a range of traditional media as well as collage, wet felting, clay, and ceramics, which are fired in the School’s on-site kiln. Many Junior School pupils have gone on to pursue careers in art, having nurtured their talent in our specialist art room!
“Whether your child wants to play an instrument, or sing for fun and relaxation, or to achieve their musical grades and perform to a high level, the Junior School will support them whatever their musical journey.”
