Junior Sport
at Bradford Grammar Junior School
Sport
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to seek out a sport they enjoy, regardless of their ability.
Junior School
We’re incredibly lucky at Clock House to have access to outstanding facilities and specialist sports teachers. Our aim is to instil a love of sport and good health in our children for life.
We also lay the foundations for those with elite ambitions, with many BGS pupils having gone on to represent their countries in their chosen field.
There is a vast array of sports to choose from at the Junior School – from water polo and tennis to athletics and swimming. Our pupils are not limited to traditional sports by gender either – we have an amazing girls’ cricket team and a boys’ hockey team.
There is a generous provision of PE and Sport throughout the weekly timetable.
In Reception and Year 1, children focus on games to lay the foundations of sporting skills and by Year 3 onwards they’re undertaking sports specific games.
Swimming lessons in our 25-metre on-site swimming pool begin in Reception. Elsewhere, lessons in cricket, rugby, hockey and netball are held on our extensive playing fields, all weather pitches, specialist cricket nets and in our huge indoor sports barn. Pupils also gain an introduction to overall fitness in our Strength and Conditioning Gym.
For a tour of our facilities and to chat to our specialist sports staff, sign up to one of our Open Events.

Meet Lizzie
Lizzie enjoys most of her subjects, but her real passion is sport. Learn about a typical day at Clock House and more about Lizzie’s love for cricket.
“It’s my aim to set a curriculum and co-curricular programme which engages all our pupils and encourages them to enjoy and gain a sense of achievement from participating in physical activity and sport.”
