Year 11 BGS pupil, Oliver Peace, is looking forward to resuming his national cycling ambitions as soon as restrictions around the COVID pandemic are lifted.

Oliver, from Ilkley, was encouraged to start cycling age 12 by his dad and soon began competing in races in his native Yorkshire.

Now age 15, he regularly secures top three placings in national competitions and has taken part in races in Belgium, Scotland and the Isle of Man.

Said Oliver: “I started competing straight away and worked my way up to bigger races. I really enjoy how it’s just yourself against all these other people. It is a very independent sport, but I love it.

“I train about five to six times a week. I have lots of friends that I go out with and Yorkshire is great for hills so it’s a good place to be for training.

“My ambition is to ride in the Tour de Yorkshire one day and secure a place on a team abroad.”
