A talented Junior School pupil is celebrating seeing the children’s show he has a part in finally hit television screens.
George R is playing one of the lead characters in the show, Biff and Chip, adapted from the popular children’s books.
George, 10, who plays the part of Chip, filmed 25 episodes of the show which he managed to do around COVID restrictions.
He said: “I’m really excited now it’s out. It was a bit weird seeing myself on television, but it was good to see that all the hard work paid off.
“Chip is quite a shy character, but he has a massive imagination and he’s really creative. It was really fun playing him.”
George plays the drums at school and also enjoys singing. He has been acting since he was five and is a member of Stagebox, a training platform for young performers. He has previously played the role of Charlie in a production of Oliver at Wakefield Theatre Royal and is looking to grow his film and television roles. He was due to star in a major film and an Amazon Prime show but restrictions meant he couldn’t film.
Instead, George made a short film with the Young Film Academy (YFA) over the summer and was nominated as best performer while the short gained a best film nomination in the Young Film Academy Awards. The film was shown at the British Film Institute in August.
“I’d love to be an actor when I leave school and it would be great to do different types of roles. I don’t want to be typecast,” he laughed.
