Year 7 pupil Inaaya R is making a name for herself as an emerging young author having self-published her first book.

Twelve-year-old Inaaya, from Tyersal, spent six weeks developing and writing her fantasy book, ‘Fantasia’, before using publishing platform BriBooks to bring her story to life.

“I just can’t believe that I’m an author!” said Inaaya, whose love of reading and writing has blossomed into a fully-fledged passion. “I’ve often dreamed of being a young writer and this is just the beginning.”

Inaaya’s debut novel, set in the enchanting world of Fantasia, follows the adventures of friends Lexy and Layla. During the annual bookshop fest at ‘Whimsy Pages’ in the town of Brookley, they stumble upon a magical book that whisks them away to Fantasia. There, the Queen assigns them the daunting task of retrieving the Royal Fantasian Jewel. Guided by Demetrius and facing numerous trials, including a dragon battle, the duo’s journey underscores the themes of courage and friendship. Their quest culminates at the Palace of Dreams, where they find the jewel and decide to remain in Fantasia to safeguard it.

Inaaya’s writing is influenced by her favourite authors, including Anthony Horowitz, J K Rowling, Jacqueline Wilson and Rick Riordan.

Her mum, Naheed, said, “Inaaya has been passionate about writing since she was about four years old. It’s been incredible to watch her grow as a writer, and I have no doubt she’ll continue to create wonderful stories in the future.”

Inaaya is already working on her next book, although she remains tight-lipped about the details. She added: “To all the aspiring writers out there, keep believing in yourself and never give up – you’ve got this. Hoc Age!”
