A talented young actress and dancer was celebrating gaining the grades she needs today to pursue her blossoming career in film.
Sienna Afsar, 18, a student at Bradford Grammar School (BGS) received an A in English Literature, B in English Language and B in Drama to secure her spot at Manchester University to study Film and English Language.
Sienna, from Clayton, Bradford, was first bitten by the acting bug when she won a talent show at primary school. She joined the Bradford-based performing arts school, Stage 84, before securing an agent and going on to audition for films and theatre. One of her most recent successes was a part in the British film, Ali and Ava, which premiered at the IMAX in Bradford in 2022 and a part in a production by the political theatre company, Bezna Theatre.
She said: “It was such an amazing experience filming Ali and Ava. The cast was like one big community. The theatre production was a totally different experience. We were in London for a week and the whole thing was incredibly powerful with a diverse group of people.
“I’m still going to continue with my acting but the course I’ve chosen will allow me to learn all about the theory side of film. There’s also a directing element to it and I’m looking forward to learning more about that.”
Sienna started at BGS in Year 7 and has made many friends along the way.
She added: “I’ve made life-long friends here and it’s a really lovely community. I’ve loved my teachers, they always push you to be creative, and it’s been great to have the Hockney Theatre to perform in.”
