Bradford is one of the most diverse cities in the North of England and the BGS community reflects this, admitting bright and talented students from a range of backgrounds.

Once considered to be the wool capital of the world, Bradford’s rich heritage and thriving multicultural present reflect BGS’s own balance of the traditional and progressive.

About Bradford

Our magnificent 28-acre grounds are situated just two miles from the UNESCO World Heritage site Saltaire, a Victorian model village named after industrialist Sir Titus Salt and the River Aire which flows through its parks. Salts Mill and the nearby Cartwright Hall host unrivalled collections by the globally renowned artist and former BGS pupil, David Hockney.

Bradford is also home to The National Science and Media Museum, which aims to inspire tomorrow’s scientists and engineers. Annual literature, science, and food festivals attract international guest speakers and more than 70,000 attendees a year. This flourishing cultural scene befits Bradford’s status as the world’s first ever UNESCO City of Film, and our ambitious bid to become UK City of Culture 2025 speaks of a confident, vibrant city.

Situated in the Pennine foothills, our unique location offers all the benefits of a major city whilst being next door to truly outstanding countryside. The atmospheric moors of Bronte Country are on our doorstep; Bradford is also the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales and only a two-hour drive to the Lake District, England’s largest natural park. Ancient local market towns, medieval castles, the Victorian spa town of Harrogate, and historic York are also within easy reach.

We welcome applications from all over the world, recognising that students from overseas further enrich our diverse and inclusive school environment.

International Applicants

The application process for an overseas candidate is the same as for a UK-based applicant and we consider applications from students at all entry points.

Applicants are expected to make their own arrangements to secure an approved guardian or family member. In order to cope with both the academic and social aspects of a BGS education, students should be fluent English speakers.

BGS is a Student Visa Sponsor registered with UK Visas and Immigration. Our sponsor licence number is 14HH56Y65. As a student visa sponsor, we can assign ‘Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)’ to international students which enables them to obtain a student visa. Please note that families who require a student visa will be required to demonstrate in their application to the Home Office that they have the requisite funds to pay the school fees.

Please contact our Admissions Manager at admissions@bradfordgrammar.com with any questions you may have, and check out our 360° virtual tour to get a flavour of what BGS is like.

We welcome applications for overseas students whose grades meet, or are predicted to meet, our entry requirements. Other qualifications may be considered if required.

The closing date for the preliminary stage of the application process is 30 April.

In order to cope with both academic and social aspects of a Bradford Grammar School education, students joining from abroad should be fluent English speakers.

BGS, a certified UK Visas and Immigration Student Visa Sponsor, facilitates international students by issuing ‘Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)’. This essential document streamlines the student visa application process. Families seeking student visas must demonstrate financial capability to cover school fees at the initial stage of the application process.

Bradford Grammar School does not offer accommodation for international students. Parents or guardians are responsible for arranging accommodation for their children attending the school.

At Bradford Grammar School, our exceptional pastoral support team plays a significant role in fostering the happiness of our students, cultivating a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone.

Tuition fees for overseas applicants align similarly with those of UK students. However, international applicants are required to pay 12 months fees plus a compliance fee in advance.

For international students unable to attend our open events, Bradford Grammar School provides an immersive experience through our 360 virtual tours of the Junior School, Senior School, and Sixth Form. We can also offer virtual meetings with teachers and our support team.
