Our year is packed with performances, from low-key lunchtime recitals to high-profile whole school concerts. Renowned musicians host workshops with students of all abilities, and we nurture aspiring students who show glimmers of excellence.

Our talented choirs and orchestras perform locally and regionally. They have toured European countries in recent years, launching emerging stars onto the world stage.

Most instruments can be taught in school. There is a wide choice of ensembles on offer to pupils catering for all levels of musical experience. They meet before and after school, and at lunchtimes.

More than 400 instrumental lessons a week are taught by our team of visiting peripatetic teachers. Last academic year, 103 music exams were taken and 68% were graded as merits or distinctions.

With all the instrumental lessons available and exciting events to get involved with, there is never a dull moment in the Music Department.  The impressive facilities include:
