Bradford teenager Alex Davies, past winner of the national TCS Oxford Computing Challenge, has secured outstanding GCSE results today.
The Bradford Grammar School (BGS) student achieved eight grade 9s and 2 grade 8s and will be starting A Levels in Computer Science, Maths, Further Maths and Physics at BGS this September.
Alex, of Clayton, said, “I’m really excited to take a more in-depth look into Computer Science next year. My particular interest is in video game development, so I am very happy that I can mix my hobby with my schoolwork! I’m planning to enter The TCS Oxford Computing Challenge again this year and am looking forward to being back in school.”
BGS’s Head of Computer Science, Christine Harvey said: “Alex’s academic success in IGCSE Computer Science matches his enthusiasm for the subject. At BGS, we offer lots of extra-curricular clubs and opportunities to enter competitions, including The Bebras Challenge, Pi Wars and the TCS Oxford Computing Challenge. Alex’s talent as a problem solver and programmer has resulted in success in all of these competitions and we are all very proud of him.”
BGS counts Olympic medallists, prominent artists and politicians among its prestigious alumni. Former pupils of the independent school on Keighley Road, Bradford, include Olympic heroes Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee, artist David Hockney and politician Denis Healey.
