A student has credited BGS for supporting his ambitions to pursue a career in the sports industry.

George Hahn, of Cottingley, joined the school in Year 7 on an assisted place and recently gained a fantastic ten 9s and one 8 in his GCSEs.

The teenager said he credited BGS for giving him the opportunities to pursue his passion for sport. George has played first team cricket for the school since Year 9 and also enjoys rugby and athletics. Outside of school he has been taking part in the Yorkshire Rugby Academy Group.

“BGS is a fantastic place to come and do sport,” he said. “The facilities are great and so are the teachers – Mr Wilde has really helped me. It’s like one big family at BGS. You get the help with your sport, but also help with your life outside of it.

“I wouldn’t have achieved my GCSE grades and gotten so far with my sport if I hadn’t gained an assisted place. It’s opened up so many opportunities for me.”

Director of sport, Oliver Rogers, said: “George has managed to strike an excellent balance between his studies and representing BGS on the sports field. He has an outstanding attitude towards developing his own ability and knowledge in the sports he enjoys. He should be very proud of what he has achieved so far, and I am sure this is just the beginning of his sporting journey!”

George is now studying maths, economics, psychology and physical education in the Sixth Form at BGS.
