PUPILS at one of the North’s leading independent schools were celebrating outstanding GCSE results today following a tumultuous two years throughout the pandemic.

This year, 57 per cent of Bradford Grammar School (BGS) pupils achieved the coveted 9-8 grades with 79 per cent being awarded 9-7 grades (equivalent to A* to A). The school also recorded a 99 per cent 9-4 (A*-C) pass rate.

Taken together, GCSEs and A Level results at BGS have broken recent school records and bucked national trends by exceeding the teacher assessed grades of the pandemic years.

Headmaster of BGS, Dr Simon Hinchliffe, said: “These superb GCSE results are just reward for the spirit, self-belief and hard work our students have demonstrated over the course of their school life. The foundations of success were laid during remote and face to face lessons, and I’m proud of what our young people, and my colleagues, have achieved together. We look forward to welcoming our students back into the BGS Sixth Form and the next exciting chapter in their education in the newly redesigned Sixth Form Centre.”
