A COMPASSIONATE student whose ‘selfless efforts’ helped support families affected by domestic violence has won an award which recognises Bradford’s unsung heroes.

Faiz Kader, an aspiring medic in Year 13, won the ‘Outstanding Student of the Year’ category at Bradford’s 12th annual Community Star Awards, organised by the Telegraph & Argus newspaper and Bradford Council.

The Outstanding Student award celebrates those who go above and beyond to help others and inspire change across the district.

Faiz helped raise money and gather resources to support ten families impacted by domestic violence.

His nominator, Noreen Khan the founder of the charity Neesie, said: “Through his tireless and selfless efforts, Faiz truly has become a pillar of support for so many people.”

Dr Simon Hinchliffe, headmaster at BGS, said: “We’re very proud of Faiz. He’s a credit to the school, and, like so many young people here, willing to give his time to make others’ lives better. Well done.”
