Olivia, who joined BGS in Year 7 on an Assisted Place was thrilled with her results of three A*s in Economics, History and Maths. She plans to now travel for a year before heading off to UCL to study Economics. “I’ve loved every minute at BGS!” she recalls. Olivia hopes that one day she can support a student financially just like she received. “Studying at BGS has been so rewarding – I am so grateful that I got the opportunity to come here.”

“BGS has been a huge part of my life”, says hockey captain Ana who was delighted with her A Level results. Having joined BGS in Year 2, she is sad to be leaving but is ready and excited for what the future holds. “I’m so thankful to my teachers who believed in me. I wasn’t sure how I’d cope taking four A Levels, but my hard work has paid off!” Ana’s dream is to be a doctor and she is now off to study Medicine at the University of Edinburgh.

Cross country captain Theo is looking forward to celebrating with his family and friends and was delighted with his results. “I didn’t expect an A* in Physics, so that was a nice surprise!” he recalls. Theo joined BGS in the Sixth Form and is now ready to head off to the University of Bristol where he’ll study Medicine. “BGS has been so supportive, and it’s been great to be surrounded by equally driven people.”

“I’m happily shocked” says Senior Prefect Kai, who took A Levels in Computer Science, Maths and Physics and achieved A*s across the board. When asked to describe his time at BGS in three words, he said: “Rewarding, enjoyable and growing.” Kai joined BGS in Year 7 and although is sad to be leaving, he is super excited to be heading to the University of Sheffield to study Mechanical Engineering.

Head Boy George learned his four grade As in Economics, Maths, PE and Psychology had secured him a place at sought-after Loughborough University to study Sport and Exercise Science. “I’m very excited,” said George, who joined BGS on an Assisted Place in Year 7. “I’ve loved my time at BGS so it’s bittersweet to be leaving. I’ll miss it. But my younger brother will still be here, so I’ll be coming back to visit.”

“I was super nervous and didn’t get much sleep last night!” recalls Emily, who is sad that her time at BGS has come to a close but is super excited to be heading off to the University of Manchester to study Politics and International Relations. She received an A* in Politics and two As in French and History, and her parents couldn’t be prouder. “Emily has worked really hard – her results are well deserved, and we are both so very proud of her” said dad.

“I’m celebrating with cake!” said Laiba who recalls her time at BGS as ‘memorable, exciting and fun.’ Laiba joined BGS in Year 9 and was both shocked and overjoyed with her results of two A*s in Biology and Spanish and an A in Chemistry. “I was shocked to find out I got an A* in Biology” she recalls. She is now heading off to the University of Leeds to study Dental Surgery, and although she is looking forward to it, she will miss BGS.

Ellie, who joined BGS in Year 7 on an Assisted Place was delighted after receiving three A*s in Biology, Chemistry and History with an A in French to secure her place at Cambridge University to study Archaeology and Anthropology. “I was really nervous before I picked up the results – it’s not just about the results themselves but about getting the grades you need for university. I was over the moon when I saw them.”

Rachel received two A*s and an A in Biology, Maths and Chemistry respectively after joining BGS in the Sixth Form. She is looking forward to going onto to study Medicine at the University of Oxford. “It has always been my dream to go to Oxford and BGS helped make this a reality. Joining the school has been life-changing. I’m still in shock to be honest – it feels so surreal to be leaving.”

It’s the end of an era for the Ogden family, as Will, the last of the Ogden children collected his A Level results with his mum and dad there for support. Will, the youngest of five, joined BGS in Year 4 and although he knew he had worked hard and given it his all, he was still nervous about opening his results. “I’m going to miss BGS – both my friends and teachers, but I am ready and excited to be heading off to Liverpool to study Business Economics.”

Stan was delighted with his three A*s in Computer Science, Maths and Further Maths and an A in History. He’s now planning to study Maths at Durham University. “With the teacher assessed grades for our GCSEs, we knew roughly what we were getting but this time it was back to how it was before COVID. I was quietly confident after I’d done my exams, but I was a bit nervous picking them up. I’m happy with them,” he said.

Head Girl Caitlin has loved life in the Sixth Form and will be heading to Leeds Arts University to study Art next year. “I was definitely nervous before I picked up my results as I didn’t know what to expect – that single piece of paper feels like it holds your whole future!”

Greg is looking forward to pursuing his dreams of becoming a volcanologist after gaining an A in Chemistry, A in Music Technology and B in Geography. Said Greg, who will head to Durham University to study Geology: “I’ve always been interested in rocks and I would love to study volcanoes in the future. I was quite nervous when I opened the envelope then I was instantly relieved when I saw I’d got the grades I needed!”

“I’m excited to get some sleep!” jokes Halimah, who joined BGS in Year 12. She was delighted with her three A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Maths and is overjoyed to be going to the University of Birmingham to study Medicine. “The environment at BGS is great” she recalls. “My dream is to be a doctor and BGS helped maximise all the opportunities available to me – I had a really great support system.”

Tzavier was lost for words when asked about his results. Despite being in shock, he is super excited to be heading off to Cambridge to study Classics after gaining A*s in Greek and Latin, and As in History and Maths. “I feel relieved. Nervous is an understatement as to how I felt before I got my results. BGS has been absolutely fantastic but I’m looking forward to the next adventure.”

Keen netballer Georgia didn’t have a clue what grades she would receive, but was delighted with the final outcome – three A*s. “All the hard work has been worth every second,” she said. “I’ll always look back on my time at BGS very fondly and with a lot of love. All of my teachers have been amazing, and the facilities have been fantastic. I’ve made so many friends for life and I can’t wait to see them all thrive over the coming years.” Georgia will go on to study History at UCL.

Eve was among the best in the country after securing 100 pc in her English Literature exam. She also secured A* grades in Biology and Chemistry and an A in Spanish. “I never realised I’d got 100pc in my English Lit until Dr Hinchliffe came across and told me,” said Eve. “I’ve always loved books and reading so I’m really, really happy.” Eve heads to Oxford University to study English Literature and English Language.
