“Subsequently we have met with the students we had supported, now university graduates – a joy and a privilege.”

OLD BRADFORDIAN (1956) & FRIEND OF BGS
DONORS

“At the BGS North American Reunion in San Francisco in 2003, I was greeted by the then Headmaster Stephen Davidson with the opening words: ‘You realize David, someone like you can no longer attend BGS’.

I attended BGS on a “County Minor” Scholarship from 1950 to 1956; Stephen’s greeting opened the door for my Canadian-born wife Eleanor and I to become involved in supporting students through their years at BGS. This was an emotionally rewarding experience for us both – and one which brought us closer to the BGS family, while we live in America.

Subsequently we have met with the students we had supported, now university graduates – a joy and a privilege.

At the 2019 North American Reunion in Toronto, current Headmaster Simon Hinchliffe reinforced how important the financial support of students remains for BGS. As a donor, I can say that this is a two-way street, not only do the students benefit, but also the donors, for whom it generates a real sense of purpose.”
