Freddie AzfarEleven 9s
Keen rower, musician and debater, Freddie was delighted with achieving 9s across the board, with dad exclaiming that he was “over the moon and very proud of his son’s achievements.” With future plans to study medicine, Freddie will be joining the BGS Sixth Form to study A Levels in Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Music Technology. He is particularly keen to get back to debating, saying that he has “been deprived of it for too many months.”
Shree BhattachajeeTen 9s
With biology as her favourite subject, Shree is considering a future in medicine. Having joined BGS in Year 3, Shree has many amazing memories, from the music competitions in Clock House, to playing Hockey and performing in various music concerts with the choir in Senior School. Her recent science lessons were a particular fond memory!
Lydia CrabtreeFive 9s, five 8s and one 7
Talented singer and cellist Lydia was overjoyed when she opened her results. She had double cause for celebration, as she also received a bursary to attend Chetham’s School of Music – the largest specialist music school in the UK. Lydia is sad to be leaving BGS but is excited about her future at Chetham’s. She said: “It was amazing to receive the email saying I’d got in. I’m really looking forward to going there as it’s such a prestigious school.”
Alex DaviesEight 9s and two 8s
Past winner of the national TCS Oxford Computing Challenge, Alex was over the moon with his GCSE results, and will be studying A Levels in Computer Science, Maths, Further Maths and Physics at BGS. I’m really excited to take a more in-depth look into Computer Science next year. My particular interest is in video game development, so I am very happy that I can mix my hobby with my schoolwork!”
Amy DixonEight 9s and two 8s
Amy, who enjoys hockey and playing the clarinet, definitely deserved a hug from mum after achieving eight 9s and two 8s in her results. “I’m really happy – it didn’t actually sink it at first” said a shocked Amy. Joining the BGS Sixth Form in September, Amy is looking forward to getting back to study A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science and Physics, and can’t wait to be able to play hockey again!
Courtney Ellis StonemanEight 9s, one 8 and one 7
“It has been a stressful six months for us all, but I am so proud that Courtney has got the grades she deserves and worked so hard for.” Courtney’s mum was beaming with pride as she hugged her daughter after opening her results. Courtney said: “I am feeling very overwhelmed, but very satisfied. I can’t wait to get back to school – I miss the routine.” Courtney, who joined BGS in Year 6, wants to study law, with Cambridge being her dream university.
Alex FlahertyTen 9s
Alex will be joining the BGS Sixth Form to study for his A Levels in Chemistry, Maths, History and Latin. As well as being academically gifted, Alex is also a keen cross-country runner and has represented Yorkshire at a national level on numerous occasions, securing multiple county titles. “I’m so glad all my hard work paid off. Running has really helped me to clear my head and relax during my studies.”
Rohan LalliEight 9s and two 8s
“It has been a nerve-wracking time recently, but I feel amazing now!” said Rohan about the last few months. Not knowing what to expect with all the changes, mum was overjoyed that Rohan got the grades he deserved. “Rohan has worked so hard for this moment and the staff at BGS spend a lot of time with the students, nurturing their talents.” With an avid interest in conservation, it comes as no surprise that Rohan is going on to study Geography at A Level, alongside Biology, English Language and Spanish.
Rebecca McCashSeven 9s and three 8s
A big hug from her parents was Rebecca’s first reward for her incredible results. With seven 9s and three 8s, Rebecca was elated and is looking forward to getting back to school in September to see her friends and teachers, having not been in school since mid-March due to the ongoing global pandemic. “This year has been a bumpy ride and I am so glad that it all turned out well in the end!”
Kate McNabNine 9s and one 8
Kate was almost speechless when asked how she felt following opening her results. “I am over the moon and so proud of myself – I’m almost lost for words!” she said. Kate was particularly happy with her results in Maths and Art, as these were the subjects she worked extra hard at following her mocks. Kate looks forward to being back at BGS in September and will be studying Art, English Literature, Politics and Psychology at A Level.
Lorna NelsonEight 9s and two 8s
Twins Lorna and Louise both did exceptionally well and were thrilled to pick up their results together. Both hockey players, they are both keen to be playing hockey again soon and agree that it is a great stress reliever. Lorna, having received eight 9s and two 8s, will be joining the BGS Sixth Form to study Computer Science, Maths, French and Chemistry. Both girls, when asked how they planned to celebrate, said “by eating lots of chocolate!”
Louise NelsonNine 8s and one 7

Anuli OkeahialamTen 9s
Anuli’s mum was beaming with joy after hearing her daughter’s results, but said she knew that Anuli would do well as she is so hardworking. Excited to join the BGS Sixth Form, Anuli will be studying A Levels in Chemistry, French and Maths, alongside an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification). Not sure of her long-term plans just yet as she loves all her subjects, Anuli is eager to get back to BGS to spend the next two years focusing on what she wants to do following life after BGS.
Sukruth PradeepTen 9s
Keen cricketer, drummer and debater, Sukruth said he felt “absolutely amazing” when asked about how he felt following opening his results. With no celebration plans finalised, Sukruth’s delighted parents said it was “his day and his choice”. Sukruth will be joining the BGS Sixth Form in September to study Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science and Maths.
Tabby WoodThree 9s, six 8s and one 7
Inspirational teenager Tabby, who overcame cancer and recently launched her own charity (Tabby’s Trust), had definite cause for celebration after receiving three 9s, six 8s and one 7. “I am really proud of my results, especially my 9 in Biology which is my favourite subject! I’m looking forward to Sixth Form and have decided to take A Levels in Chemistry, Biology, and History, alongside an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification).”
