Zeba AmjidEleven 9s
Zeba, who joined BGS in Year 7 was delighted with her results of eleven 9s. She knew she had worked hard but was still presently surprised with her results, particularly in Further Maths as she recalls the paper being ‘pretty tough’. With a dream of studying Medicine, Zeba will be joining the BGS Sixth Form to study A Levels in Chemistry, Maths, Business and Biology.
Olivia BensonTen 9s
Olivia, who attends BGS on an Assisted Place and joined in Year 7, secured 10 GCSEs – all grade 9s. She said: “I’m really relieved and a little lost for words. I’d hoped for good grades but never thought I’d get all 9s. I’ll be celebrating later with my friends and family. I’m so glad I was given the opportunity to come to BGS. I feel really grateful towards my sponsor.”
James BurkeTen 9s
Keen rower, James gained all 9s in his 10 GCSEs. He said: “I wondered if I would do as well with the disruption that we’ve had to our learning, so I was really surprised when I got all 9s. We’ve had great support from the school.” James will be studying A Levels in Economics, History, Maths and Politics at BGS and his next goal for rowing will be qualifying for Henley.
Alasdair ClarkeEleven 9s
Alasdair who is an avid rower gained all 9s in his 11 GCSEs. “I was absolutely amazed when I got my results. I didn’t expect to do this well so I’m really happy. It’s been a tough year. I can remember at one-point spending hours and hours in my bedroom with online learning so getting these results feels like the light at the end of the tunnel.” he recalls.
Alexander FisherOne 4, two 6s, two 7s, three 8s and two 9s
Alex was delighted to secure 10 GCSEs, of which five were 8/9s. He said his teachers had been a great support to him since his diagnosis for dyslexia, which was confirmed when he joined the school in Year 5. “All the teachers have been really supportive. Having that support gave me the confidence to do well in my exams and to also do well in my life. The environment is nice, and it’s been easy to make friends while still learning at the same time.”
Emily GibbinsNine 9s and one 8
Emily was almost speechless when asked how she felt following opening her results. “I was so nervous beforehand but tried to keep my mind off it by playing sport.” she explained. A talented runner and hockey player, Emily has future plans of going to Durham University to study Geography. Emily will be joining the BGS Sixth Form to study A Levels in Geography, History and Maths, alongside an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification).
George HahnTen 9s and one 8
George took 11 GCSEs and gained a fantastic ten 9s and one 8. He joined the school in Year 7 on an Assisted Place and credits BGS for giving him the opportunities to pursue his passion for sport. “I wouldn’t have achieved these grades and gotten so far with my sport if I hadn’t gained an Assisted Place. It’s opened up so many opportunities for me.” George is now looking to study Maths, Economics, Psychology and Physical Education in the Sixth Form.
Morgan HainsworthOne 9, four 8s and four 7s
Morgan joined BGS in Year 8 and was very happy to have secured 9 GCSEs, five of which were 8/9s. Giving particular thanks to his Learning Support teachers, Morgan explains that without the level of support he received from them, he wouldn’t have received these results. “The use of having blue paper in lessons and a reader pen for my exams was a massive help” he explains.
Ellie KoralEleven 9s
Ellie, who joined BGS in Year 7 on an Assisted Place, secured all 9s in her 11 GCSEs: “I’m relieved and ecstatic to get my results,” she said. “I’m so glad my hard work has paid off. I love all my subjects and I’ve found it hard to choose what to do at Sixth Form. I’ve loved the BGS experience and all the opportunities it’s created.” Ellie looks forward to joining the BGS Sixth Form to study A Levels in Biology, Chemistry, History and French.
Leah SchlosshanTen 9s and one 8
Leah scooped a fantastic 11 GCSEs, ten of which were grade 9s and one 8. Leah was last month selected to represent GB for her first international competition at the European Junior Swimming Championships in Rome where she scooped a bronze medal. Said Leah: “I’m delighted with my results. I’m very grateful to BGS and all the teachers, especially Craig Robinson for supporting me through this difficult year so that I could achieve my dream to represent GB internationally but also to achieve my goals academically. I feel very lucky and privileged.”
Elise Stanton-DaviesTen 9s
Elise sat 10 GCSEs and was delighted to receive all 9s. She will be joining the BGS Sixth Form to study A Levels in English Literature, Biology, Chemistry and Maths. “I’m really pleased. I thought I would get good grades, but I never imagined they would all be 9s.” she recalls.
Tzavier ThornberTwelve 9s
Tzavier said he was speechless when he saw his results – 12 GCSEs at grade 9. “I still am speechless,” he said. “It hasn’t really hit me yet that they’re all 9s. I love learning and it’s something I’ve worked really hard towards. I’m looking forward to studying for my A Levels at BGS.” he explains.
