Rebecca, of Menston, Bradford, was delighted with 11 GCSEs. She said: ‘I’ve put in a lot of nights balancing the running and schoolwork. It’s just as special as winning a medal in a way – it means a lot.’ Rebecca will go on to take A Levels in Maths, Chemistry, Biology and History at BGS.

Amelie, of Ilkley, who secured 10 GCSEs said: ‘I’ve had to be strict balancing running and revising but it’s paid off and I’m really happy. It’s a similar feeling to competing and winning medals and I was nervous picking up the results, but I’m used to being nervous before a race.’ Amelie will now study Biology, Chemistry, Geography and Psychology.

Elsa Foster, 16, a student at Bradford Grammar School, was overjoyed with her 11 GCSEs at grade 9 – to add to the grade 9 in French which she secured when she was just 14. She said: “I’m still in shock at seeing my results. You never know what you’re going to get until you turn up, I’m really pleased with them.”

Adheeb R is originally from Sri Lanka and came to Bradford Grammar School on an assisted place in Year 7. The 16-year-old, who now lives in Low Moor, Bradford, secured two 9s, two 8s, three 7s, three 6s and one 5 and said: “I liked the atmosphere at Bradford Grammar as soon as I came here. Everyone was really friendly, and the teachers were very helpful. I’ve done particularly well in subjects I want to study at A Level so I’m pleased overall.”

Ben Hill, 16, secured 11 GCSEs with eight 9 grades, two 8s and a 7. Ben, of Horsforth, Leeds, is a keen triathlete and competes for Yorkshire. Ben said: “I’m happy with my results. I’m glad that I joined BGS in Year 10. The facilities are really good for my training and the staff are very supportive.”
